Help Build Idaho’s First Dedicated Curling Facility
The Boise Curling Club (BCC) is a thriving, fast-growing nonprofit organization that brings an inclusive, lifelong sport to the Treasure Valley. Currently operating as an arena ice club at Idaho Ice World, BCC offers weekly league play and hosts 8–10 Learn to Curl events each year for individuals, families, and community organizations. Over the past five years alone, more than 300 people have become members of the Boise Curling Club.
Despite limited ice access, BCC has made an outsized impact. Our athletes compete successfully at both regional and national levels, our outreach initiatives introduce hundreds of new participants to the sport, and we proudly host the Sawtooth Outdoor Bonspiel—one of the nation’s only outdoor curling events—set against the stunning backdrop of Redfish Lake.
Our Challenge: Ice Access Limits Our Growth
BCC consistently fills every available league spot each season. At Idaho Ice World, only three of our five sheets provide reliable curling conditions, forcing us to stretch limited resources just to meet demand. With no additional ice time available, the club is rapidly approaching the ceiling of what is possible without a dedicated facility.
Our Vision: Idaho’s First Dedicated Curling Ice Facility
To continue serving our members and expanding access to curling statewide, BCC is actively pursuing plans — and fundraising — to build Idaho’s first dedicated curling facility.
Curling is a centuries-old international sport that has seen explosive growth in the United States, particularly since becoming an official Olympic sport and following the U.S. Men’s gold medal win at the 2018 Winter Olympics. While multi-use arena ice allows curling to exist, dedicated curling ice allows it to thrive.
Dedicated curling ice is purpose-built for the sport—flat, precisely maintained, and available without constant setup and teardown. This unlocks year-round programming, flexible scheduling, a stronger social environment, and deeper community engagement.
What Dedicated Ice Makes Possible
A dedicated facility would allow BCC to:
-
Expand membership and league offerings for all ages and skill levels
-
Establish junior, collegiate, and senior programs
-
Provide consistent practice ice to develop competitive athletes
-
Increase Learn to Curl events and community outreach
-
Serve underserved groups, including homeschool students, adaptive athletes, and seniors
Our goal is a 17,000–22,000 square foot facility with 4–5 sheets of ice, supporting 320–350 recreational and competitive curlers and a sustainable membership base of at least 250 active members.
This Goal Is Achievable—and Timely
Dedicated curling facilities exist in cities and small towns across the country. Curling clubs now operate in all 50 states, with 23 states already home to dedicated ice facilities—and more opening each year. Participation continues to grow nationwide.
Boise is ready.
With your support, we can move beyond limited arena ice and create a permanent home for curling in Idaho—one that fosters athletic excellence, builds community, and ensures this growing sport is accessible for generations to come.
